Kiss Me Good-Bye

At the bottom of my farewell,
I found a hundred more.

Take these tears into the kitchen
and drop them on the floor.

Never spoon feed your love, my dear;
you will choke on the leftovers.

Hold my hand at the edge of the table
and kiss me good-bye.

Sew the story's end to your pocket,
close to your heart,
far from your lips.
They don't want to Hear.

Dance. Love. Beautify.
They will watch you Live.

  1. Never spoon feed your love;
    You will choke on the leftovers...

    That's interesting. Love does seem to flow as the kindergarten song "Magic Penny" by Malvina Reynolds says it does,

    "Love is something if you give it away, you end up having more."

  2. I'm deeply moved by the paradox and mystery in this poem, made more palpable by such vivid images.

    It takes me to a place of sadness and loss, with fullness.

  3. Dan, I love those words! They are right on!
    Susan, 'saddness and loss, with fulness'...perfect words...and the exact place from which it came.
    Thanks to you both!
