"Human kindness is over flowing And I think it's going to rain today."
Artwork - 2.5 x 3.5 colored pencil - drawn this morning as a hard Spring rain calmed down leaving a gray sky and lots of birds chirping. I Think It's Going to Rain today was written by Randy Newman. I adore (and am haunted) by Neil Diamond's version.
How very very interesting! I was completely unfamiliar with this song until last week, when I was driving at night and the radio station was playing Peter Gabriel's interesting album of covers, Scratch My Back. He does this song, but I had no idea who the original artist was.
This reminds me of the day I was married. It poured rain that day. It flooded the streets of Charleston. My husband and I learned that rain on your wedding day was a "sign" that all of the past was washing away and that we begin anew. This has a great depth of meaning for our personal journey - A GREAT DEPTH OF MEANING. This reminds me of that washing - the washing away, for "kindness to overflowing".
The heart becoming stronger through the washing of our souls, with the cleansing of a spiritual rain upon us.
My mom had that album and played it a lot when I was growing up. I love the blueness, seems like she's pondering the rain, yet loving it with a large heart.
