The Day Came...Again

There came a time when the risk to remain

tight in the bud

was more painful

than the risk it took to blossom.

- Anais Nin

Regarding my artwork, I showed this new piece to my daughter. She said, "Your artwork seems a lot happier these days."
Yes. The colors are brighter and the eyes are open.

Funny thing is I never meant any of it be sad. It all comes from the same place for me. In fact, this drawing was brought out by a touching story of a father who just lost a daughter.

Regarding the quote: I have shared it before but it seems timely and appropriate.

  1. jenny i like this drawing very much. i'm with your daughter. the other feature that has changed recently is that the heads are looking up rather than down. the eyes may close or open, the heads may look up or down but they are what they are and they may speak about your feelings or they may not. i'm just glad for you that you have this creative energy flowing through you. steven

  4. That is one of my favorite quotations by Anais Ninn. So meaningful, especially for women and girls. The pictures are bright and energetic in color and the themes are deep and heart-opening, coming from an important place in you. I certainly appreciate what you do. I always look forward to your blog. Thank you!
