Garland Gift

I will start with acknowledging that the brown carpet is less than tantalizing. Okay. Done.

Over the years I have come to love simple things I can tack on my wall. It brings enjoyment but there is no lifetime commitment and it doesn't need a nail!

This garland was made over the holiday weekend.
An empty cereal box was calling to be creatively reused, so I cut it apart and started coloring.

It contains:
two birds
two acorns
three hearts
nine leaves
and I would like to give it away!

If you are interested in receiving it as a gift, leave me a comment on this post sharing your favorite summer activity. (Or you can email me if you prefer: email link on profile page.)
I will put all the names in a hat and draw one out.
Voila! It could be yours.

Thank you.

(The garland is approximately 5 feet long. Colors are a bit more vibrant than they photographed.)

  1. Oh wow - I love this! I want to be in the hat, but it's hard for me to narrow down ONE favorite summer activity. I guess if I have to choose, it would be camping, although gardening is a close second.

  2. That's so sweet!

My favorite summer activity? Has to be the one I don't do often enough - going to the Sierra foothills and swimming in the sweet river with my kids and the fish, sliding over the mossy boulders down the stream, then swimming back up and doing it again.

    mmm, can't wait!

  3. you don't have to put me in the hat, i'll just commission you to make one for me another time, but my favorite summer activity in my current situation is to get up to the 'higher country' here in AZ and be in an environment where i can walk around comfortably...just amble around and then?....watch the awesome summer rains if they come in....

  4. My favorite summer activity after all the rest of the activities would be to lay in the hammock with an ice tea and a good book on a sunny day.

  5. Love the garland, and even moreso because you were so creative to make it from an empty cereal box. Cool! My favorite summer activity, besides vacation, is swimming in Barton Springs, which is a natural spring-fed pool in the middle of Austin, always about 68 degrees which is pretty refreshing when it's 100 degrees outside. Plus it's fun to swim with fishies and salamanders.

  6. THANK YOU, Pollinatirix, Neighbor, Todd, Woodcutter and Dreamfarm Girl for your comments! Let's do this again some time, shall we??
My favorite summer activity?? Staying up late at night with all the windows open (desperately trying to cool off) and watching Goonies with my daughter.
