Dying Fires and Waking Up

The logs are running out.
The fire of grief is dying.

I love Jesus, who said to us:

heaven and earth will pass away.
When heaven and earth have passed away,
my word will remain.

What was your word, Jesus?
Love?
Forgiveness?
Affection?
All your words were one word:
WAKEUP!

-Antonio Machado, Proverbs and Tiny Songs

The words are : The difficulty of awakening is immense.

  2. This is a Buddhist, if I do say so myself. Awakening (to what is, and what is, is love) is what Buddhism is all about. And, yes, the difficulty of awakening is immense. Immense, but do-able. You just have to take it baby-step by baby step.

  3. This is a Buddhist sentiment, I meant to say. Not that Buddhism would claim any rights to it: actually all humanity has access to awakening whether Buddhist or not.
