My Acorns
I mentioned that on Sunday afternoon my daughter and I went acorn hat hunting.
My inspiration came from an artist on Esty.
Her acorns are very cute and I would love to purchase hers someday.
Until then I am happy with my wonky version.
I made these felt beads about a year ago. They just sit in a basket.
I glued on the old gnarly acorn hats I found and...VOILA!
They are much more funky than refined, but I am good with that.

Acorn Hat Hunting
Yesterday on Etsy, I fell in love with this artist's felted acorns.
I would love to buy them but I also knew I could make them. (The statement every artist dreads to hear!)
I also know that going acorn hat hunting would be a great way to ease The Sunday Sads.
So my daughter and I drove to our local apple town just a few minutes away.
The stores were closed and no one was around.
We hunted, took photos, teeter-tottered and my daughter (almost 17) even played on the tire swing.
It was heavenly!!

The Day Came...Again
There came a time when the risk to remain
tight in the bud
was more painful
than the risk it took to blossom.
- Anais Nin
Regarding my artwork, I showed this new piece to my daughter. She said, "Your artwork seems a lot happier these days."
Yes. The colors are brighter and the eyes are open.
Funny thing is I never meant any of it be sad. It all comes from the same place for me. In fact, this drawing was brought out by a touching story of a father who just lost a daughter.
Regarding the quote: I have shared it before but it seems timely and appropriate.

Ceaseless Grace
As the sun shines with a ceaseless grace
Lyrics: Villagers, On A Sunlit Stage
My daughter always finds interesting music. This song is one of them.
The other evening we both ended up at the table. She colored one of my drawings and I created the image above.
As a friend gently reminds me; sometimes you just have to surrender to the cuteness.
Hugs for everyone!

Moving Forward
I laugh!
Most of my life I have been a procrastinating perfectionist.
"If it's not gonna be perfect, than why start?"
That is...
until recently...
deciding to face this block, slowly but surely.
To postpone my dream no longer
But to do at last what I came here for
And waste my heart on fear no more.
-John O'Donohue
Several months ago I got the entire poem from Dan of A Mindful Heart.
The poem is taped by my bathroom sink and I stare at it daily.
But it is the last stanza that I reread several times.
Baby steps.
Small reasonable goals.
Lots of laughter.
Discovery.
Tears too.
But I am moving toward my goal!
Although a work in progress I am getting closer.
See it HERE!
May I be willing to fail...and flail.
May I be willing to succeed.
Thank you to all who shared kind compliments on the new look of my blog!
I greatly appreciate it!

GIFTS
Gifts.
My daughter's dad gave back to me my family's old terracotta pot. But he returned it freshly planted with vincas.
My hair dresser gave me a powder I was oogling over.
A healing hug from my mama!
An unexpected phone call from a sweet friend.
Daily laughter.
Grace. Forgiveness.
Gifts. I like them...especially the one that can't be contained in a box.
Another gift is to see people coloring.
Dan of A Mindful Heart is coloring!
And so is Branden, a winner of the Fun Free CD giveaway from Todd's YouTube page.
