For A Wonky Monday

keep watching
you never know where love
will start to grow
My daughter and her friends made a hilarious video using
dinosaur finger puppets. I hope to post it soon.
Another video I like is Todd's video on softies. With basic sewing skills, a passion for felt and the desire and willingness to try something new he just does it!

Ceaseless Grace

As the sun shines with a ceaseless grace
Lyrics: Villagers, On A Sunlit Stage
My daughter always finds interesting music. This song is one of them.
The other evening we both ended up at the table. She colored one of my drawings and I created the image above.
As a friend gently reminds me; sometimes you just have to surrender to the cuteness.
Hugs for everyone!

GIFTS

Gifts.
My daughter's dad gave back to me my family's old terracotta pot. But he returned it freshly planted with vincas.
My hair dresser gave me a powder I was oogling over.
A healing hug from my mama!
An unexpected phone call from a sweet friend.
Daily laughter.
Grace. Forgiveness.
Gifts. I like them...especially the one that can't be contained in a box.
Another gift is to see people coloring.
Dan of A Mindful Heart is coloring!
And so is Branden, a winner of the Fun Free CD giveaway from Todd's YouTube page.

Close Your Eyes...
...and listen...
quiet Sunday...
...then smile and enjoy ...
THE BUTTON KING! (click)
I discovered him from a TV show my daughter was watching.
I love him!

LOVE
Well, that was easy!
The winner for the watermelon garland is NICOL!
I wanted to share my latest drawing but the photo upload button isn't working?! So, instead I will share one of my favorite songs...again. (Previously posted several months back.)
Sometimes I sing so beautiful I break my own heart.

Bittersweet
I remember this from when I was a little girl. I loved it!
The feeling it brought was a combination of peace and the need to cry a little bit.
I still love this.

Going to Rain Today

"Human kindness is over flowing
And I think it's going to rain today."
Artwork - 2.5 x 3.5 colored pencil - drawn this morning as a hard Spring rain calmed down leaving a gray sky and lots of birds chirping.
I Think It's Going to Rain today was written by Randy Newman.
I adore (and am haunted) by Neil Diamond's version.

Happy & Sad

Life is a little SAD.
Life is a little HAPPY.
I don't know if they are aware of the connection, but two blogs I follow both posted Bob McFarrin video clips. They each brought more HAPPY into my day. Thank you!

You've Got a Friend
When I was 5 my mom had the Tapestry album by Carole King.
I loved this song!
I loved it so much I would lock myself in the bathroom (alone and away from older siblings), sit on the toilet and sing this song out.

Wee Threads
Cross-pollinations.
I can see now why Susan of The Whole Blooming World
uses this in her comment box.
Monday.
I posted THIS.
My old art.
Words by Joseph Lazenka.
Susan commented.
Todd commented.
Susan's comment inspired Todd to sing.
Yesterday, I received an unexpected email from
Joseph Lazenka, Director, School of Lost Borders.
He was thanking me for the pairing of his words with my art. (Phew!)
The simple email warmed my heart.
Threads.
Weaving the story in my creative heart.
I am thankful.

Chloe Driving

Now she is a licensed driver.
Chloe.
What an odd Rite of Passage...
I flounder as a mother.
This stage does not come naturally to me.
I miss the days of sorting buttons,
digging in the dirt, reading stacks of books,
PlayDoh, stickers and crayons....
long tubby times where I would sit on the edge of the tub
and show her pictures from National Geographic...
snuggly jammies and bedtime.
How do you know what threads to keep
and which ones you cut? And when?
But it is still the little things...like this song.
It is one of her favorites...mine, too.
We sang it at the top of our lungs
on the way to the DMV
under a beautiful, cloudy sky.
Photo - Me and Chloe, October 1994,
ages 22 and 1. And yes, that is my baby
girl, Chloe, even though she looks a wee
bit like a boy in the photo.

... and we dance along...
In this little boat...
Peace unknown guides me to ask
How did I get here?
A pool of warm light draws near
Encompass my heart, the One.
